The right kind of worship

My most intimate, powerful, breakthrough, healing, inspiring and favorite moments have been during worship. Lifting up the name of Jesus, declaring that he is no 1, His name is powerful and thanking him for the great things he has done.
I’ve sometimes heard some people say “I can’t worship to this song” or “I find it hard to worship with this band” the problems of it’s too loud or quiet, a full band, not enough musicians, the room is too “Holy” or not Holy enough, the style, the length these things start to get in the way and I want to say one thing.
If there is a problem for you to worship….it reflects the condition of the heart.
Worshiping God is about the heart of surrendering yourself to Him and lifting up the name of Jesus because He is so good.

Getting past the place or the time or the song will release you to worship more and get more than ever before.

I have had so many different times of worship which have impacted my life.
At a camp fire, in a concert hall, a class room, my car, with one friend in my house, with a group of friends in a bus, on my kitchen floor, with a full band, when I have felt like it and when I didn’t, with edm, with my ukulele alone, at a funeral, a wedding, a birthday party, at church, in my lowest moments and at my highest points.

There is something about Worship that breaks through walls, sets us free and personally I get overwhelmed sometimes like God is giving me a big huge hug.

What ever moment that we go through or what ever place we find ourselves, no matter how big, small or great the band is, if we prepare ourselves to lift up God (because he is bigger than everything) I know without a doubt We can have moments with God anywhere.

“Sing to the Lord, all the earth; proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.” ‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭16:23-24‬ ‭NIV‬‬

A tough week

It had been a challenging week, I jumped in the shower and started to pray. “Can you thank me?” I felt God say to me.”What?, thank you? I’m trying to complain…I mean pray. I believe in the power of Jesus, in healing and what we ask in prayer we receive, why is everything going wrong? And why is koa still sick!”

Still the answer was “can you thank me?”

With gritted teeth I reluctantly started to thank God for different things. Having a roof over my head, an awesome family, my friends, our car, my job, our usual health. As I went through the list I became more excited to say more, I felt built up and by the time I was out I was refreshed like a new person as if walls had come down and I had a new sense of faith and fight in me.

My son had a fever of 40 degrees for over a week at that stage, we had done 3 trips to the doctor and 2 to the hospital, chest X-rays, drips and nebulizers. The washing machine broke and we had two air cons that needed to be installed.
After my shower I walked into the room to see my son, the worship music was playing and he was still laying exausted.

I layed down next to him, he looked at me and put his hands in the air like he was worshiping. It was so cute I copied him and we worshiped together.

Suddenly like a bolt of lighting had stuck him he jumped up, ran into the other room and started playing his little drums!

My husband and I looked at each other and surprised I said “what just happened?”
Koa was jumping, smiling and playing the drums and he had color in his face again.

I checked his temperature and the fever was gone!
The next day we decided to take the washing machine to the recyclers. It was time to get a new one. We had already done a few trips to the laundry mat and I had been trying to start it all week with no avail. I actually laid hands on it and prayed for it to work like 3 times. Just before we took it to the van my husband suggested we try turn it on one more time. I pushed the start button and it started to work! We cracked up and thanked God for his perfect timing.

After church the following day the aircon guy came to install our machines, the quote was for $350, with the summer here and our friends with 4 children coming to stay we needed to get it done.

The man went and installed everything and at the end asked for $100 only!

I was totally blown away, this man came on a Sunday, fit us in last minute and now took more than half off his quote for us!

God gave me the challenge to worship and thank him through my hard time, when I was feeling so low. Could I still put him first and do what he asked.

It had been a tough week, but through Gods faithfulness and the breakthrough power of worship and thankfulness it became a victorious week!
